Consisting of a 1.6 liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 268HP, a 6 speed manual with all-wheel drive and 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds; it goes without saying… this is a hot hatch. Where did this originate from?
Part of Toyota’s plan on returning to the World Rally Championship (WRC) was to build ‘a rally inspired sports car.’ Using their technical knowledge from Toyota Gazoo Racing they were able to create a spin-off of the Yaris. This was achieved by keeping weight to a minimum, using carbon fiber and other lightweight materials. In addition, the all-new GR-Four all-wheel drive system was implemented.
Toyota did an excellent job in designing both the exterior and interior. The exterior having sleek lines, not only eye catching but also incorporating the physics associated with aerodynamics. The interior was constructed with the driver in mind. Positioning the gear shift higher and closer to the steering wheel. Furthermore, they included a manual handbrake for some extra involvement.
To conclude, the Toyota GR Yaris packs a big punch in a small package. It has all the bell and whistles a driver would dream of.
