The Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 is an affordable small SUV that may be ideal for you.

Starting off, the CX-3 is priced around TT$210,000 (price subject to change) which is a fair cost for what you get.

The exterior design is quite sleek and being a crossover based on the Mazda 3, it has a similar design. Looking at it, you can see the distinctive Mazda “smiley” front grill. As your eyes track up the vehicle you can see the Mazda 3 sedan shape, with the taller side profile properly expressing that the CX-3 is an SUV. The black exterior trim gives the vehicle a lovely two-tone colour scheme.

The interior is clean and simple yet impressive. There is nicely stitched leather across the dash and a carbon fiber finish on different parts of the cabin. Additionally, the rounded air vents are reminiscent of those old school airplane style vents. Storage is about adequate, as there is sufficient space in the door bins and center console for your phone and a small/medium size bottle of water. The glove box’s size is decent, however most of the space is taken up with the owner’s manual. There is also a neat space for your sunglasses. Trunk space is limited but thankfully you can fold down the backseats to load longer and bigger items. The seats themselves are comfortable and do offer enough adjustment so that you’ll fit just right into your driving position.

On the center of the dash is Mazda’s infotainment screen. It is a touchscreen display (only while stationary) which can also be controlled using shortcut buttons and a scroll wheel just below the gear selector. You also get Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio. It works well, but I found the system was very fast. Not to worry though, as you do have Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. Additionally, there are USB ports, a power supply (12V) and a wireless charging pad for your device. Here’s the catch though, it is wired Android Auto, therefore the wireless charging pad now becomes useless…

On to the driving impressions. The CX-3 delivers a smooth ride on 16” inch wheels, however I did notice some mild road noise. The car handles well around corners and responds quickly enough on exit. There is a sport mode which increases throttle response slightly, without being drastic enough to startle the driver. Overall, the CX-3 is great for daily driving.

So, what do I think of the Mazda CX-3? Well, if you're in the market for a small SUV, that Mazda CX-3 is an affordable option which you may find surprisingly ideal.

I am interested to see how the vehicle performs as it ages. Follow my social media and join my newsletter to keep updated on my journey with the Mazda CX-3.
