The RA Motorsports Toyota GT86 is an extreme evolution of Toyota and Subaru’s shared platform. Otherwise known as a Subaru BRZ, legendary Subaru specialists RA Motorsports took this car far beyond the manufacturer’s intended spec, designing a custom wide-arch bodykit which serves as both a stylistic eye-catcher and a method of gaining more grip through the widening of the car for larger tyre fitment.
The aggressive stance, massive wheel arches and rear wing the size of a school bench all contribute to the hardcore, track-focused aura of this car. Subtlety was never a consideration during this build. Impossible to miss, the Blue Grape Pearl paint and Pink Fuschia Rota wheels turn every head wherever the car goes, and when the car stops… The rear lights feature progressive lamination and futuristic arrow-like styling which can only be found on the Lamborghini Aventador.
When it comes to performance, no expense was spared to ensure that the car made insane amounts of power reliably. Starting with a stock 2 litre 4U-GSE (also known as the FA20D) boxer 4-cylinder, RA Motorsports added a turbocharger, 800cc injectors, a new exhaust, and a front-mount intercooler along with many other “tuning goodies”, transforming this otherwise tame 200hp sports coupe into a boosted beast capable of over 400hp. If that wasn’t impressive enough, it was tuned by the “Subaru Tuning God” himself, Andy Forrest.
Handling was also taken into consideration, with KW Clubsport V3 coilovers helping to eliminate the car’s body roll and top-of-the-line braces and alignment products from Whiteline Performance Suspension. The bodykit, front splitter and wing are not just for show either, as they provide the downforce needed to glue the car to the road and put down its immense power.
The interior of this GT86 is complemented with a beautiful user-friendly Haltech iC-7 display dash while keeping the spirit of the 90s JDM driver-centric cockpits. The sporty seats strike a perfect balance between an acceptable amount of everyday comfort with track day functionality, hugging your body so that you feel every bit of feedback from the car.
Outstanding looks, striking colors, a rich history, and worldwide fame along with the pace to back it all up. One-of-a-kind is an understatement for this tuner car icon.
