Honda Civic Type R

When you think of Honda, you think affordable, reliable, stylish and spacious vehicles. On the other hand, car and driver enthusiasts think of the popular Civic Type R, which is a sporty driver orientated but yet practical vehicle. The Type R has been around for many years and over time Honda has released new versions enhancing their recipe in the “hot hatch” category.

Now picture a regular Civic, but, with a lighter stiffened body accompanied with a tuned engine, better brakes (Brembo) and a modified chassis. It comes with a manual transmission for “real drivers” to have fun on the short runs. Did I mention it also includes an aggressive design all around ensuring it stands out?

This 2017 Civic Type R comes equipped with a Turbocharged I-VTEC 2.0 liter, inline 4 engine. It produces 306 HP with 295 lb.-ft. torque. It also comes with 3 different drive modes: Comfort, Sport and +R. Each mode has been individually tailored adjusting the suspension, steering and throttle response.

Having mentioned the Civic Type R to be a driver oriented car, what did Honda implement to achieve this? The sporty gauge cluster, the spherical gear shifter, auto rev matching for perfect downshifts every time and fabric bucket seats for the driver and passenger.

Apart from the extreme performance of lapping the Nurburgring in 7mins 43 secs, the Civic Type R has trunk space of 414 liters. After all, it is a “hot hatch”.

The Honda Civic Type R is an incredible vehicle and one of my personal favorites. It has all the performance for everyday fun and track days. It has the practicality for a busy lifestyle and the cool tech features packed into the infotainment system to make your commute easy.
